Shopping Trip
The girls 'worked hard' to earn their allowance a few weeks ago. I put that in quotes because, well, I was doling out stickers like they were going out of style. In addition to their regular chores, they got stickers for going potty by herself (Bella), bringing me diapers, letting me rest without interruptions. I don't normally bribe but it was necessary. This isn't related to my previous post about how helpful the girls are, they truly are wonderful little helpers. But you know those days when all things are an effort, I had about a week straight of those - two week olds are demanding.
Today we gathered our dollars and headed off to Target. The girls each had $10 from allowance money and gifts. So I'm prepared to get to the toy aisle, they each pick a polly pocket type toy and then we are done. Ha ha ha. What a fool I am...I have myself two GIRLS here!!!
Bella wanted to buy a wallet, yes a wallet. Not some kid plastic wallet, she wanted the big mama wallets. Unfortunately $10 doesn't get you much and, after 10 minutes of looking, she settled on the sparkly, heart one. That is until I heard "WAIT!!! I want shoes MOM!!!" I thought the wallet area was bad, there were literally 3 pairs of shoes she could afford. But it still took her 20 minutes to decide on the Hello Kitty sandals.
My head is hurting at this point and Lily still can make up her mind. She picked a lip wallet but put it back. She picked a sparkly pair of flip flops but put them back. Where did Lily want to look next? You guessed it - clothes. Seriously! While $10 can get you an outfit at Target she couldn't find what she wanted. We had a dress, put it back. She picked another bathing suit, put it back. A beach wrap, put it back. Another 20 minutes went by and without realising that she hadn't actually kept anything I said, "Okay, let's go look at the kid pools."
It took us 20 minutes to pick the right pool. yes, they got their indecisive shopping style from their mama. They wanted the $350 one with slides and sprinklers, think of an inflatable bounce house with water. Frankly, I wanted that one too, it was awesome. But the sensible side of me shown through and looked at the $30 pool looking one. Unfortunately it required an electric pump and if I'm gonna buy an electric pump, I might as well get the funky fresh pool. So we settled on the $10 one. No super awesome slides or sprinklers, it isn't deep enough to swim in but it serves its cooling off function perfectly.
Meanwhile, Lily is ogling the slip 'n slides. Guess how much a basic slip 'n slide is... $9.99. Ours from last year broke and Lily didn't think we should get another one, even though that was her heart's desire. After much lamenting, Lily made a decision - amazing! - and bought a slip 'n slide.
Bella with shoes in hand and Lily with her slip 'n slide headed to the scariest part of all...the cashier. It was so cute to see Lily trying to figure out how this whole paying for things works. I've taken them shopping so many times, but when all eyes were on her, she wanted to do it right. When do I give him the money? Where do I give it to him? Do I put it here? Finally it was time to hand their money over, much to the relief of the woman behind us - who had a kid herself but apparently lost her patience with us. They gave the cashier their money and off we went with our purchases. Sarah even got a $2 clearance summer dress that she probably doesn't need. But Sensible Sally just saved us $340, I could spare $2 right? That is how budget minded people shop, right?

Lily's TV Request
Flipping through the channels on TV, Lily asked me to go back to "that girl one". I went back it was a make up segment on QVC. After a minute she said, "I want to watch fishing. That's funner." I never thought I'd say this but we are watching fishing on TV right now. So, where exactly did Lily learn about fishing shows on TV?

Free Help
A few people have 'encouraged me' to use their daughter as a mother's helper this summer. But so far these two are all the help I need (and a healthy dose of their father).
There is little that these two super stars can't do... Grabbing diapers & wipes. Finding pacis. Repetitively singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" to a crying sister. Making their own juice. Holding Sarah. Picking up toys. Making peanut butter sandwiches. Vacuuming. Folding laundry. Getting out craft supplies (and putting them away - thank you very much). Best of all...entertaining themselves.
A few of them caught me off guard and sleep deprivation is my only defense. But at least our spices weren't involved and you can reason with a 5 and 3 year old - well sort of.

Check Ups & Polka Dots
Sarah met Dr. Owens today. She got an all healthy report. Her heart still sounds normal - not even a murmur (amazing for our family). Her weightloss is in the safe range and everything else is just normal. A trend in our family is funny looking belly buttons and it seems Sarah will not be spared. Hopefully that means there will be no need for vetoing bikinis in 10 years :) Now for the latest cutie patootie picture of our babe...

Ayres Baby Hair Salon
In an effort to tucker our new babe out we decided to give her a bath tonight. The girls wanted to open a baby hair salon. So off to Ayres Baby Hair Salon I took Sarah. She loved her first trip to the salon. Enjoy the pictures!
